Vision Problems and Common Eye Conditions
Home > Vision ProblemsMyopia (Nearsightedness): Approximately one-third of the population suffers from Myopia or nearsightedness. Someone with nearsightedness has no difficulty reading a book up close but cannot see things well far away, such as the tv from across the room.
Hyperopia (Farsightedness):Not quite as common as Myopia. Someone with Hyperopia or farsightedness can see objects well at a distance but not well up close. (Picture a grandma holding a book at arms length to try to read it).
Amblyopia (Lazy Eye):Develops during childhood. If not treated can cause permanent damage.
Cataracts:Clouding or fuzziness of the eye's suface.
Glaucoma:The eye has pressure, and when this pressure increases to dangerous levels, it damages the optic nerve. This can result in poor peripheral vision and sometimes blindness.
